Winery Review: Lindeman’s Bin 45 Cabernet Sauvignon features aromas of dark blackcurrants fruits with hints of vanilla spice, while the palate exudes plum and berry fruit flavours supported within a soft tannin structure in this medium to full bodied wine.
My Review: I decided to perform an experiment and buy the cheapest bottle of Cab Sav I could find. $4.62!!! I wasn't expecting much from this wine, but figured I'd give it a try. When I first opened the bottle and tasted a glass, it had a very distinct taste of cork and not much else. It was pretty gross. I decided to let it breathe overnight and try again the next day. I'm so glad that I gave it a second chance! I tried a small glass on it's own and it was surprisingly good. I smelled hints of tree bark and something spicy, and a sweet smell of berries. Once it had some oxygen to it, the taste was much better. It has an earthy taste to it but it finishes sweet. The winery review says it has a soft tannin structure, which gives it a nice light finish. None of that harsh bitter grossness that a lot of red wines have. We had it with dinner tonight, which was New York strip, medium rare steak and a salad. I also tried it with gouda and a sharp cheddar. The gouda was overtaken by the flavor of the wine. But WOW, the sharp cheddar was amazing with it! I was pleasantly surprised that this really cheap bottle of wine was so good. I will definitely be buying more of this!
