Winery Review: Full-bodied aromas of cassis, dark plum, crushed berry, and slight notes of dried herb and vanilla. Lingering fruit flavors carry through with midweight tannins on the finish.
My Review: This week's theme for me was California v. Italian Cabernet Sauvignon wines. I wanted to see if there really was a different between the two and what things brought out the best qualities of each wine. This wine was the California version. I smelled mulberry, honey and what I can only describe as Applewood chips. The same kind we use to smoke a tasty salmon. Against a stark white background, this wine had a beautiful dark burgundy color. I only tried this wine alone and didn't pair it with any food. It tasted of cranberry and had a very soft finish. The tannins and acid were very well balanced and it was very pleasant to drink. It was full body and just an overall great wine. This is definitely something I will be buying more of. Great to drink just as it is.
