Tasting - Truchard

Winery Review: Tropical aromas of green apple, Meyer lemon, and honeysuckle; with highlights of nutmeg, fig, and toasted oak. The mouth is clean and bright; filled with flavors of fresh pear, lemon zest, and lime. Firm acidity provides a crisp finish of citrus, mineral, and spice.

My Review: To continue this week's theme of the same variety...cheap vs "expensive". This is the $30.00 bottle of Chardonnay I picked up at the local wine store. Wow...wow...wow!!!!  This was probably one of the best Chardonnays I ever had. To say it was delicious is an understatement. This wine possessed aromas of lavender, flowers and sweet berries. The taste was like the nectar of the gods. It was smooth and crisp. It had a hint of citrus, maybe something like tangerines or lemon, but wasn't tart in the least bit. I drank most of the bottle by itself, it was that good that I didn't want to ruin it with a bad food choice. However, I did get hungry during my note taking and had some Chex mix. TERRIBLE idea! Chex mix is not a wine food..just FYI. It made it very sour and gross. Salty and this wine don't mix. I will be purchasing this again soon...maybe many bottles. I'd like to try it with a fish or grilled chicken to see how it pairs with those items. So far this is my favorite wine that I've tasted for this class. Perhaps new favorite wine over all! (Sorry Cab Sav!)
