Tasting - Dr. G

Winery Review: This crisp, refreshing Riesling is the dry counterpart to the fruity, off-dry Dr. L Riesling. There is a beautiful balance between its ripeness and acidity. This wine is dense and concentrated, but with the delicate and graceful style of the Mosel.
My Review: With this wine, I wanted to try something new. I have never had a dry Riesling. I have only had those that are sickeningly sweet. When I opened the bottle, the smell was very faint. I smelled honeysuckle and what I assumed a chardonnay smells like. That oaky, buttery scent. When I tasted it, I immediately tasted citrus and what resembled carbonation in the mouth feel. It was like a flat Sprite but without the sugar aspect. It was very light in body and finished up sweeter than when I first tasted it. I wasn't planning on having food with it, but after a few hours, I was really craving peanut butter toast. I decided what the heck and tried the wine with my toast. It as a great combination. I guess wine really does go with any food! I don't know if this will go on my list of favorites, but it wasn't bad. I'm glad that I branched out and tried this refreshing wine.
